John Van Osdol

A 30+ year advertising and production veteran, John has been honored with every industry award, including an Emmy and the coveted Grand Prix at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival. John led content production at many of the global advertising firms, and directed and produced content for Autoweek before establishing One Better Productions. He has worked with a variety of clients in automotive, food, furnishings and health & beauty segments, and has produced and directed a range of video content for broadcast, web and tablet platforms, including episodic television. To no one’s surprise, John was named to Crain Publishing’s list of “40 Under 40” in 1998.

A content production professional with a wide range of leadership and client experience, John has held key management roles at leading global advertising agencies including Campbell-Mithun-Esty, FCB, BBDO and Leo Burnett. In 2006, John stepped away from the “big agencies” to form his own start-up company, working directly with a variety of clients in automotive, food, furnishings and health & beauty segments. In 2011, John joined Autoweek as Executive Producer, overseeing the creation and production of a range of integrated video content for web and tablet platforms, as well as producing custom content for outside clients. John also produced the television show “Autoweek’s Vinsetta Garage,” creating 13 original episodes for the Velocity Channel.

John Established his own company, One Better Productions, in 2013 and has been writing, producing and directing content for social media, web, industrial and broadcast mediums.

John achieves with fresh thinking and finding novel solutions to challenges in order to reach a better end result. John’s best work was done for clients who needed this kind of change agent. Clients like Cadillac, Hush Puppies, Jeep, USA Credit Union and Hudsonville. John was at the center of the history-making resurgence of Cadillac in 2002, a case study that will be referenced for years to come.

John assures excellence by working with a strong, innovative team, attending to all the details, and insuring that the goals and objectives are reached on time and within budget.

John is investing in the future with speaking engagements and advisor roles at Ferris State University and Center for Creative Studies. John has also been a panel moderator at the international CGAM conference, and served as judge for the AICP and Andy award shows.
